This tutorial should work for all devices of Kindle,
including newer editions like Kindle Paperwhite and Kindle Fire.
1.
Go to the South Dakota Titles to Go website: http://southdakota.lib.overdrive.com/0CD15C10-C16D-47DC-B537-B2A8AB441F6D/10/50/en/Default.htm
2.
Once you are at “South Dakota Titles to Go”,
click “Sign In” at the upper right hand corner.
3.
Select “Wall Community Library” from the list of
participating libraries.
4.
Next, ask the librarian for the barcode number
on your library card. Your PIN should be your last name in all capital letters.
**Hint** - If your card is not
working for some reason, have the library make sure that the numbers are not
incorrect. Also, have her check that your last name is in the proper slot to
apply itself as the PIN. Finally, make sure that the library card has a valid
expiration date and registration date.
5.
Browse around for the book that you desire to
loan from the library. Once you find the one that you want, click “Add to
cart”. Make sure that you have selected the format used for Kindle.
6.
When you are finished adding items to your cart,
click “proceed to checkout” at the bottom of the “cart” page.
7.
Confirm your “check out”.
8.
Click “get for kindle”.
9.
The browser should open up a page linked to
Amazon.
10.
On the right side of the page, there will be a
link that says “Get library book.” Click on that link.
11.
Sign into Amazon.com with your personal username
and password.
12.
Select the device to which you want to send your
library eBook. Then click “Continue”.
13.
Now your book is stored on your Amazon account
and will automatically download onto your Kindle when it connects to a Wi-Fi
network.
14.
After this arduous process, retrieve your Kindle
device. Make sure that it is connected to a Wi-Fi network. (On a Kindle
Paperwhite, you need to go to “Settings” and scan for Wi-Fi networks).
15.
Your book will automatically download. It will
also automatically expire and “return itself” after it is due.
Download an eBook Onto a Nook Device*
1.
If you do not yet have a copy of Adobe Digital

library card number and PIN (your last name in all caps).
3.
Search the catalog for books in the eBook
format.
4.
Borrow the eBook of your choice by clicking the “Borrow”
button.
5.
Once you have checked out the library book, you
will have the option to download the book to your computer. When the dialog box
pops up for your download, select the option to “open file with Adobe Digital
Editions.”
6.
The downloaded book will then open in the Adobe
Digital Editions program in the main library section.
7.
Connect your Nook to your computer.
8.
You will be prompted to authorize the newly
connected device, the Nook, to access the software. You will need an Adobe ID
to complete the authorization. If you have never set up an Adobe ID online,
follow the directions to set one up.
9.
Once authorization is complete, you will see
your Nook listed in the left pane of Adobe Digital Editions on the left side.

icon.
11. If
done correctly, you will see a “transferring file” dialogue box will appear.

on the Nook icon to confirm the book is in your Nook’s library before disconnecting
the Nook from your computer.
